2000-2019

The Club originally intended to commemorate its 90th anniversary on October 30, 2009. However, Taiwan was severely damaged by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on September 21. To help the victims in Central Taiwan and also show compassion and brotherly love, the Club chose to give away all of the budget allocated for the celebration to assist with the earthquake relief.

2019 was the 100th anniversary of Taiwan Golf Club. To hold a grand celebration in honor of the historical moment, the Club began renovating the clubhouse in December 2017, and initiated a series of activities for the 100th anniversary celebration held in March 2018. A press conference was held on March 5; on April 26, a national golf team captain and chief of staff tournament took place; on May 20, the Club held a more extensive game for its members; and on the night of May 20, the Club held its 100th anniversary celebration party with its members and other members from its sister courses. On May 21, a game for its sister course members was held. On June 26 and 29, Taiwan Golf Club organized the Taiwan PGA “Old Tamsui 100th Anniversary Open Tournament.” The TPGA and charity party were held on June 30. On August 1 and 4, the Taiwan PGA Tour “Yangde Invitational Tournament” was held. On September 27-30, the Asian Tour “the third Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament” was held. On October 15 and 17, the Club grandly hosted the President’s Cup Amateur Golf Tournament.

For the past 30 years and more, the Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament has been regarded as the most representative international golf tournament in Taiwan.

The fourth-generation clubhouse has been in service since 1981.

Former Chairperson of Tamsui Course, Gu Kuan-min, launched the President’s Cup in Old Tamsui. In 2018, it was grandly held during Old Tamsui’s 100th anniversary celebration.

The Tamsui golf day is held during the Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament every year.

The most famous golf player in Tamsui, Lu Wei-zhi, won the third championship of the Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament in 2016.

The most famous golf player in Tamsui, Lu Wen-de, made history when winning the green jacket of the Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament for a record fourth time.

The fans fought to witness Cai Qi-huang winning the Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament championship in the last round in 2012.

The Mercuries Taiwan Masters Invitational Golf Tournament popularized golf in Taiwan. During the tournament, elementary school children around Tamsui were often invited to watch at the Course.
